Congress President Sonia Gandhi Pleads For Unity In The Country
Sonia Gandhi, the President of the Congress, told party leaders today that the party’s road ahead is paved with enormous obstacles that would put the party’s dedication and resilience to the test. On Tuesday, Gandhi delivered a speech to the Congress Parliamentary Party’s general body. Gandhi acknowledged that the election results in the five states that recently went to the polls were shocking and painful but added that she had received several suggestions to strengthen the party through interactions at the CWC and with other party colleagues and that she is working on the most important ones.
Congress President Concerned About Center’s Ignorance Towards The Country
The Congress President emphasized the importance of togetherness in an apparent message to the G-23, a gathering of dissident Congress leaders demanding reforms within the party. She is adamant about maintaining the party’s unity. She believed that the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, is busy organizing rallies and believes that the country’s people would believe anything he says. The Congress party has been on semi-bad terms with the other parties since the thinly veiled digs started on both sides, but she considers that the Central Government still lacks and ignores so many plights and focuses on less essential things.
She added that she was well aware of the dissatisfaction with the recent election outcomes. The election results for the Congress party were both stunning and hurtful for them at the same time. The Congress Working Committee had met once to discuss their progress, where the leader and the other people present discussed measures to spread the unity in the country and bring together people who have been blinded by words. She informed the party workers that she also has had meetings with other co-workers and got a lot of ideas on how to improve their organization.
Congress President Convinces Citizens, Says She Cares About Them
Stressing on the recent plight and circumstances faced by the organization, she believed many of those ideas to be necessary and added that she had started working on them as well. She also stated that holding a ‘Chintan Shivir’ is required to hear the opinions of a more comprehensive number of colleagues and party representatives. Sonia Gandhi went on to say that Congress’ resurgence is critical not only for the party but also for Indian democracy.
The Congress president chastised the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for pursuing a polarising and divisive agenda. She addressed the thoughts about the ruling party and its leaders, whose divisive and polarising agenda had now become a standard component of political debate in state after state. The facts and events in history had been erroneously perverted, not only in the past but also in the present.
For this, they didn’t even stop maliciously fabricated situations to further their purpose. She believes that it is up to them to rise and oppose those forces of bigotry and hatred given rise to by the other parties. She also attacked the federal administration on several problems, including the targeted use of federal agencies against opposition leaders, MSMEs concerns, farmers’ hardship, inflation, and the border dispute with China.
