Best 7 tips to Stay Motivated While Running on the Treadmill

Running on the Treadmill can be boring and hard to stay motivated. Running outside is always more fun, but for some people, it’s not an option. Running on a treadmill has its benefits, though there are no traffic jams, you get your daily workout in without having to leave the house, and you don’t have to worry about getting rained out!

In this blog post, I’ll share seven tips that will help keep you motivated while running on the Treadmill.

Best seven tips to Stay Motivated While Running on the Treadmill

Tip #01 Running On the Treadmill Is Hard

Running on a treadmill is always harder than running outside. Running on a stationary machine with no wind, hills, or trees to distract you can take its toll and affect your motivation. Here are some tips for getting through it!

  1. Find a good playlist that gets you pumped up.
  2. Grab something from home (a cup of coffee, water bottle) if possible, so you don’t have to stop every time during your workout – Get into a rhythm: If one song feels too long, then pick another shorter one but keep moving forward in order until the end of your session.
  3. Turn the TV off when running on the Treadmill; watching TV while working out will most likely make you want to stop and start watching the show.
  4. Running on a treadmill is challenging, but with these tips, you can stay motivated!

Tip #02 Running On the Treadmill Is Boring

The only thing that may make running on a treadmill more tedious than it already is having too much scenery going by. If this sounds like something you struggle with, then try some of these options:

  1. Create your own “TV” screen that’s just in front of you while running – Adjust settings, so there are fewer distractions (make it black) or change up what goes through (people, animals, cities, etc.)
  2. Use an app such as Nike+ Running App, which has music/podcasts built-in and even virtual coaching from famous runners.

Tip #03 Running On a Treadmill Is Private

There are no people around to make you feel like an idiot if you’re struggling. One of the best things about running on a treadmill is that nobody can see your struggle! If you need help, give yourself some encouragement by saying motivational phrases aloud or telling yourself how great you do when passing mile markers.

  1. If it’s hard for anyone to see, then there should be nothing holding back – after all, sometimes we need affirmation from ourselves to stay motivated and keep going even on the most challenging days! But don’t forget: Running outside is always more fun than running indoors 😉

Tip #04 Running On Treadmill Is Dangerous

The Treadmill is a lot safer than running outside. Running on the roads has dangers such as cars, traffic jams, or other runners that can make it hard to see – not to mention all of the awful weather in some areas! Running on a treadmill eliminates these problems and makes for an easier run, so don’t let this tip stop you from getting your workout in

  1. Get up close to look at what’s around when you are running (you’ll be surprised by how much there is!) – If using headphones, turn them off when nearing intersections; give yourself enough time to adjust if needed before passing through the intersection – Know where emergency buttons are located near treadmills just in case.

Tip #05 Running On the Treadmill Is Dull

Sometimes it can be hard to find motivation when jogging on a treadmill. Running is complicated and sometimes dull – there’s no denying that! But don’t let yourself give up so efficiently. Running outside doesn’t always work for everyone, but with these tips, you’ll never have to stop focusing on your workout again while inside:

  1. Give out rewards after specific amounts of sessions or kilometers run (new music playlist, movie night) – Set goals to keep track of progress; set intermediate ones as well as final ones because this will help stay motivated by seeing what you’ve accomplished already.
  2. Try new things such as taking an online course about fitness/running or find a new YouTube channel that complements your running style.

Tip #06 Running On the Treadmill Is Depressing

Running on the Treadmill can be just as depressing and boring as it is motivating. Running for long periods can make anyone want to stop to get some fresh air or change scenery. It’s important not to let this happen! If you feel yourself getting bored, try one of these:

  1. Change up what you’re doing – You could start by challenging yourself with complex programs like Insanity Workout, which will keep things from feeling too easy (plus it’ll burn more calories!) – Spend less time inside if possible; go outside for a run when you have free time so that at least there will be some change in scenery.

Tip #07 Running On the Treadmill Is Boring

Running on a device can get boring, especially if you have to do it daily. This is one of the easiest ways to feel bad about yourself and stop doing it all together! Running should always be fun – so don’t let this become your reality: It can make your body healty and good.

  1. Try using different apps such as Nike+ Running App, which has music/podcasts built-in; or find an app with motivational quotes from famous runners like Steve Prefontaine (a very inspiring runner!) – Allow more time for runs than average by setting up two sessions per day instead of one session every other day. You’ll never know how much you’ll be able to endure – and will want more afterward! Time to adjust if needed before passing through the intersection.

Summary

Running on the Treadmill is not always easy. Running off of it is even more difficult. But no matter how tough it can be, there are some ways to stay motivated while running on the Treadmill that works for many people.
