5 Secret Tips on How to Curl Clip in Hair Extensions

When it comes to Clip In Hair Extensions, you have two options: sew them in or curl them. Curling synthetic hair can be tricky, but with the right tools and a little practice, you’ll soon have beautiful curls that last. Here are some tips for curling your clip in hair extensions.

Tip #1: Use curling tongs

You can create volume when you curl the ends of your hair using curling tongs. Curling tongs are a great and easy way to create curls. The curls that you get when you use curling tongs are generally smaller and tighter than you get using a curling iron. 

If you want the look of naturally straight hair, then it’s best to curl it straight. Using a curling iron can make your hair look frizzy and uneven when you remove the curls with hot, so it’s best to curl your hair straight after you wear it to help with maintaining volume. To prevent frizz, don’t handle curls by using a curling brush. Tip #2: Use hair clips to hold the hair in place while it cools

Use hair clips to hold the hair in place while it cools. After you’ve rolled your hair in the curler, secure it with a hair clip to keep it out of your way while it cools. Your fingers will soon become super-fluid.

Once you’ve finished roller setting your hair, wait until they’ve cooled before moving them. 

These tips all conveniently come to mind the moment I apply for my hair extensions. I roll my hair back in the rollers like a lazy fisherman to curl them. I do this because the roller set delivers the most voluminous hair from the longest hair.

To apply for extensions, roll the extensions in from the ends of your hair on the crown of your head to just below your ears. Then, roll up your fingers and pull the ends of the extensions into a ponytail on the opposite side of your head.

Now, roll and repeat on the other side. By incorporating both motions you can curl any colour you like and ensuring you don’t leave knots in your new Clip in Hair Extensions.

Tip #4: Give your hair a break between curling sessions

After curling your hair, give it a break before you repeat the process. If you don’t give your hair a break, you can burn it. Your curls won’t be as tight and they’ll frizz.

Roll up your sleeves and get yourself some hot glue before you start any hot glue activities. We’ll be adding some faux hair here, and to hold it all together, we’ll be using hot glue guns. It gives them pop and more strength. It won’t take much to add, just enough to stick your head on and wrap the ends around.

Use the spray bottle that comes with the glue gun sander. I always have a few different colours to play around with. A quick spray of one colour then continues applying light coats of the other colour while watching that colour dry. I usually get a nice even coat of paint for each colour I’m using. I don’t need to do this, but it’s nice to change it up! I just started using the spray bottle for upper back extensions.

When the paint is dry, roll up your sleeves and get yourself some tweezers or a small straight edge sharpener. Grab your small piece of hair extension and run it along the straight edge of the small piece. If you don’t have a small straight edge, you can use a Dremel tool to rip out the part of the hair extension and program your hot glue gun to push it straight down.
