How to Eat All the Food You Want Without Gaining Weight
Have you always dreamed of staying thin while you eat whatever you like? As a matter of fact, eating all the things you like without having to gain weight is as simple as changing the way we look at food. It’s possible to have a lifestyle where you can eat whatever you like without getting fat. You’re just going to eat when you’re hungry and finish when you’re full.
This process is called intuitive eating and it’s a method of eating that can help you gain a healthy relationship with food and your body. We’re sure that you would want to know what it’s like to be able to eat whatever you like without getting anxious about gaining some pounds. So keep reading!
1. Don’t believe in ‘diets’
The truth is, diets don’t actually work. But they don’t work because they’re not feasible. They’re not feasible because you are only denying yourself the enjoyable things which only makes you unhappy in life. From now on, it’s time to get diets out of your mind forever. If losing weight or wanting to be a healthier version of yourself is the goal, then forget about diets and create a permanent lifestyle change rather.
2. Never rush yourself when eating
Some people when hungry like to eat fast and consume food as much as their stomach can. So make peace with your food, slow down, and take your time to eat your food without any distraction. Don’t give yourself limited permission to eat. If you want to eat a piece of chocolate, then don’t be guilty. Eat it slowly and enjoy it.
The method of eating slowly is like this: divide the food on your plate in two then eat half. If you still feel hungry after 20 or 30 minutes later, come back and eat the other half on the plate. Doing this will make you feel stuffed already.
3. Only take food when you’re hungry
Don’t make eating an excuse because of your boredom, and don’t even make it one of your favourite hobbies. Hunger is our body’s way of telling us that we should eat. When you’re mildly hungry, nourish your body and eat before you get extremely hungry. However, don’t wait until your super hungry because it can only lead to overeating, and you don’t want that to happen.
4. Don’t be fooled by labels
From superfoods to empty-calorie snacks to perfect proteins bars to junk foods, name it. Most probably, you’ve already decided which of these types of foods are good and bad for you. It’s time that you stop thinking in those double terms. You must also stop assessing your behaviour whether it’s positive or negative. Remember, even goats eat everything and anything until they’re full. These animals don’t come up with a decision about which is bad or good, and neither should you.
5. Treat eating as if it’s a big event
Eating is not just eating. You must enjoy it! When eating your food, your body should consume it mindfully, not when half of your attention is flying somewhere. This is why it’s important to make your mealtimes special. Prepare the table, maybe even light a candle, look at the journey that this food has taken to you. It’s about the value quality over quantity, so gently savour the flavours and textures. You’ll have more fun eating your food, and you’ll enjoy the food you love without worrying about how you look.
6. Don’t eat when you’re stress
We can’t deny that food makes our heart and soul happy. That’s how it should be. However, you shouldn’t consider eating as a sole source of comfort. Never allow all of your feelings to eat food. If you’re stressed or lonely and you make eating a source of relief, then find other things that bring you joy. Instead, why not take a nice warm shower, watch your favourite Netflix series, or spend some time with your family or friends.
7. Do some exercise (even if you hate it)
The worst news is that food definitely plays a big role in our body weight just like exercise. However, don’t be confused, before you put down your exercise equipment, understand that including exercise as part of your regular routine will provide you with many more leeways when it comes to eating the things you love. Don’t work out just to be able to burn calories because it’ll eventually get boring. Your purpose is to hit the gym to have good health and energy, and not to be entitled to eat “bad food”.
8. Love the skin and body you’re in
Whether you don’t eat too much or not, if you don’t know how to respect your own body, you will never be happy in life. Accept and love your body as it is today, no matter what shape and size you are.
