What is an employment pass?

How will you know if your job pass is accepted, and how will you get it?

When your application for a work pass in Singapore is approved, the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) will send an In-Principle-Approval (IPA) letter to the company’s address in Singapore. After it is written, the IPA letter is valid for six months.

You must fly to Singapore and present a copy of the IPA letter, your passport, and all other documentation stated in the IPA letter in order to receive your pass. The authorities will issue you a one-time entry visa that will allow you to enter Singapore and receive your work permit.

A Long-Term Visit Pass may be applied for by common-law parents, unmarried disabled children over 21 years old, and unmarried stepchildren under 21 years old of active EP holders. It enables them to stay in the country for a longer period of time. When the EP submission is authorized, LTVPs, like DPs, are automatically accepted and expire at the same time as the EP.

The LTVP is open to the parents of successful EP holders, but the successful EP holder must earn a minimum of S$12,000.

Your application for a work permit was denied. So, what do you have to do now?

Notify your employment pass Singapore agency if your submission was unsuccessful. They’ll work closely with MOM to look at the possible reasons for the rejection – then, if necessary, they’ll help you file an appeal that specifically addresses these reasons.

Appeals are usually processed in 4-6 weeks and are likely to be rejected before MOM determines that the extra detail required is necessary.

Authorities will mail an employment pass Singapore renewal form to your employer’s registered address three months before your EP expires. At least four weeks before your EP’s expiration date, you must send a renewal application to MOM.

Your company will be notified if your renewal application is approved. You must visit the MOM office to collect your latest EP.
